Our organizational goals are to bring together groups of men & women to build better friendships, traditions and allow them to enjoy their special bond while serving the campuses and communities we represent and dwell in. This organization provides a wide range of social activities and programs for affiliated members as well as opportunities for volunteers and community members to enjoy and partake in. We will work with heightened enthusiasm and incredible passion, joining hands as we implement initiatives under our Sacred principles of PERSERVERANCE - EDUCATION - ACHIEVEMENT - SERVICE, to inspire our communities and renew our efforts to be of service to people of all humankind.

About the PEAS:

On a cold and snowy Monday evening of January 20th, 2003, three Cheyney University Students sat on the steps of Emlen Hall in conversation. That fateful conversation would spark the idea that led Brother Isaac M. Williams, Brother Ijlal K. Bassett, and Brother Andre M. Williams II to induct First Ladi Donicia j. Miller-Watts into the PEAS Siblinghood. As “People Excelling Amongst Society,” the Foundation would constitutionalize the inaugural Garden of Eden Chapter on November 11th 2005 at Cheyney University.

We, the Siblinghood of Pi Epsilon Alpha Sigma (or ΠΕΑΣ) PEAS Incorporated (founded and established at Cheyney University of Pennsylvania), agree to maintain, and further the ideas of helping “People Encouraging and Achieving Success” through our Four Sacred Principles of Perseverance Education Achievement and Service to maintain a “Friendship among a Unified People.” We agree to participate in the development and the betterment of campus life among the student body.

We agree as well to participate in the development and betterment of our surrounding communities while establishing and maintaining collaborative service in benefit of both our communities and the campuses we serve. We agree to maintain the standards set for our members, benefitting from the diverse disciplines passed on by our ancestors and elders and applied by our organization. In doing so, our aim is to further the growth of “People Excelling Amongst Society,” unified in our humanity and service.

The Purpose of PEAS:

The purpose of this organization is not designed for pecuniary profit, nor shall it have any power to issue certificates of stock or declare dividends and in no part of its net earnings shall incur to the benefit of any member, governor, or individual.

The social organization community is dedicated to the future leaders by providing a wealth of leadership opportunities.

The Mission of PEAS:

Our mission is to prepare our community with competent, confident, and responsible visionary leaders of tomorrow. We work to build a tradition of academic and professional excellence through community service and outreach programs. Scholarship Academic achievement is the first and foremost priority of all student members. Scholastic excellence is a central part of each chapter. Each chapter places a strong emphasis on creating an atmosphere conducive to high academic performance, as well as challenging each member to live up to his/her highest academic potential. We plan to use the knowledge and skills acquired from our founding members, ancestors, and within the organization members to service our community.

The Vision of PEAS:

Our vision has always been to establish a Siblinghood of men and women collaboratively working together to set better examples and provide more services to the communities we serve as well as the campuses we represent. Too often the identity split that comes with “brotherhoods” and “sisterhoods” causes lapses in collaboration which can negatively impact the areas represented by said organizations.

By helping each other to address the issues facing our communities regardless of demographics, we aim to create a better understanding of how community needs affect us all individually. Through our SKILLSET Initiative, we will provide programs, workshops, events, etc. to provide vital solutions for our community members in need. As we expand, our vision for our Siblinghood is to establish and maintain a “campus to community pipeline” to give our underserved youth and impoverished communities more chances to gain vital skills needed to compete in today’s workforce as well as give them a broader range of options that many often feel discouraged from taking due to hardships.
